Rainforest in the middle of a desert? The Green Planet is the first bio-done in the region that recreates the mystical realm of a tropical forest with flora and fauna of over 3,000 exotic species.

Transports you to the Amazon with slithering reptiles and colourful birds. The enclosed ecosystem is located at CITYWALK and offers a completely new adventure into the world of nature and is divided into four interactive levels each dedicated to a different animal kingdom.

Flooded Rainforest

Your trip inside the Green Planet begins at the ‘Flooded Forest’ floor which has several aquariums, the tanks surround you completely giving a 360-degree view of the marine life. Look out for Archerfish which squirt up water in the air to target their prey and Motoro rays with distinctive spots native to South America.

The Canopy

Next stop is on the fourth floor and the trip continues in a downward clockwise spiral. As soon as you step out of the elevator you will see the 35-meter tree, the world’s largest manmade, life-sustaining tree. Here sloths are peacefully napping and bright orange beak toucans perch alongside their colourful friends, macaws, and parakeets. Don’t miss out on a recent addition, the bat cave.

The Midstory

Home to emerald tree boa, squirrel monkeys, and Cuban Amazon parrots; the midstory hosts various reptiles and tropical mammals. The best place to get rid of your fear of snakes as you learn about the species.  

Forest Floor

Passing through a massive waterfall you reach the forest floor. A new addition to the family are the sugar gliders and their wide innocent eyes, you can even hold them in your palm! This level offers multiple species of insects like leaf-cutter ants all the way from South America with their colonies. 

Creatures of the Night

Witness the activities of nocturnal rainforest animals like Lace Monitor, Burmese, and Tokay gecko, when darkness falls. Following a reverse day-night system, it is dark here when the rest of the levels witness daytime. Slow Loris family: Lonely, Hope and their baby are quite famous in this underground experience.

Thunderstorm inside the Green Planet

Visitors can catch the thunderstorm (yes again in the middle of a desert) inside The Green Planet two times a day. Lasting for roughly around five minutes at 1 PM and 5 PM. However if that’s not your scene don’t worry, there are plenty of spots to simply enjoy without getting wet.

Ever dreamed of being a zookeeper?

Did you know that you can also experience being a zookeeper for a day at The Green Planet? Available from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM during the weekdays and additional morning sessions on weekends from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM where you will be escorted by an expert team to venture behind the scenes, visit the laboratories and understand how to nurture some of the most incredible and endangered species on the planet. 

Priced at 410 AED this offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get up and close to some of the world’s rarest species. Recommended for ages 8 and above.

A temperature of 24-27 Degrees Celsius and a humidity level of approximately 75% is maintained inside the premises.
