Why you should visit Jumeirah Mosque in Dubai
For over two decades, Jumeirah Mosque has been a focal point of The Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Centre for Cultural Understanding (SMCCU) under the banner of ‘Open Doors Open Minds’ program where guests have the opportunity to experience the Emirati culture, refreshment, and history. It is one of the most popular mosque in Dubai which is open to non-Muslims for cultural and educational purposes.
For a public visit you do not require a prior booking but do ensure you reach 30 minutes before the program starts. Refreshments provided include Arabic coffee, tea, dates and luqaimat.
(Luqaimat are sweet dumplings covered with date syrup)
History and Architecture
Inaugurated in 1979, Jumeirah Mosque was a gift to the current ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum from his father and the former ruler of Dubai Late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum. It is one the most treasured architectural construction and tourist attraction in Dubai
Accommodating approximately 1500 worshippers, the style of the architecture for Jumeirah Mosque originated from Syria and Egypt.
The mission of SMCCU is to bring cultural awareness through the help of interactive programs that understand and respect various nationalities and cultures from around the world.
Once Upon a Time Museum
Rare artifacts and vintage trinkets will transport you all the way back to the 70s and 80s. filled with old pictures and captivating tales, this museum whispers tales unheard.
The museum is open daily from 9:00am to 5:00pm except Friday.

The exhibition is open daily to everyone from 9:30am to 4:00pm except Fridays.

What do you wear to Jumeirah Mosque?
Be mindful that this is a religious space, and you must adhere to the culture’s requirements.
Men can borrow a Kandoora (Male Emirati National Dress) if wearing shorts or clothes that don’t sufficiently cover.
Women can borrow an Abaya (Female Emirati National Dress) and Sheila (head-scarf) to cover themselves if wearing clothes that don’t sufficiently cover.
All garments are regularly cleaned in the laundry.
Can you visit Jumeirah Mosque without a tour?
Jumeirah Mosque is open to Muslim visitors from 10am to 8pm. If you’re not Muslim, you must check into the tourist entrance and visit at one of the guided tour times. Tours are offered every day except Friday, at 10am and 2pm. Outside of tour hours, the mosque is closed to the public for prayer.
