Explore the cultural history of Grand Bur Dubai Mosque
Built over a century ago, this stunning mosque stands as a testament and representation of Dubai’s heritage and culture. Located between the textile souk and the Dubai Museum on the Ali Bin Abi Taleb Street, you can stop to admire the incredible wooden windows with stained-glass from afar or plan a detailed visit and see the exquisite marble flooring and intricately carved woodwork inside.
Architecture and history of Bur Dubai
Originally a school of Quran built in 1900, it was demolished in 1960 to build a mosque and later underwent further rebuilding in 1998. The five columns at the mosque’s entryway are inscribed with verses from the Quran.
The Grand Bur Dubai Mosque in Dubai features 45 little domes on its roof in addition to the nine large ones. Sand-grey walls are like the Barjeels (a wind-tower that is traditionally a non-electric air conditioner) and other historic structures in Bur Dubai.
