Rooted in Tradition
At the heart of Ali Sethi‘s musical journey lies a profound connection to tradition. Raised in a family deeply entrenched in classical and folk music, Sethi’s upbringing was steeped in melodies that span generations. His father, Najam Sethi, a prominent journalist and intellectual, and his mother, Jugnu Mohsin, an accomplished writer, instilled in him a deep appreciation for art, culture, and literature.
Ali Sethi‘s connection to tradition extends to his classical training in the Patiala Gharana, a school of classical music known for its rich history and intricate compositions. This foundation in classical music is the bedrock upon which he builds his contemporary, genre-defying sound.
A Poet’s Soul
Ali Sethi‘s music rises above mere entertainment; it is a poetic journey that delves into the depths of the human experience. His lyrics are a symphony of emotions, weaving tales of love, longing, and the human condition. Whether he’s singing ghazals, Sufi poetry, or his original compositions, Sethi’s words have a transformative quality that resonates with listeners on a profound level.

He has graced international stages, captivating audiences from Lahore to London, and from New York to Mumbai. His collaborations with artists from various musical backgrounds have enriched his repertoire and brought a global perspective to his work.
Sethi’s voice has earned him recognition and accolades from music connoisseurs and critics alike. He was awarded the coveted Luxembourg Peace Prize in 2019, a testament to his ability to use music as a medium for cultural exchange and peace.
A Cultural Bridge
One of Ali Sethi‘s most remarkable contributions to the world of music is his role as a cultural bridge. In a time when the world is grappling with divisions and misunderstandings, Sethi’s music serves as a unifying force, transcending borders and fostering an appreciation for the richness of South Asian musical heritage.
