What is Tandem Skydiving?
Unlike regular, in a tandem skydive, a beginner is harnessed to an experienced skydiving expert. All crucial elements of your dive, including the landing, parachute deployment, and freefall, are under your instructor’s control. All you would need to do is adhere to your instructor’s instructions regarding body positioning and posture.
This is the best choice for anyone who is hesitant to skydive alone or just wants to tick this experience off their bucket list. You don’t need to have any prior skydiving expertise to test out a tandem jump.
Palm Dropzone
The popular Palm Jumeirah looks completely different from 10,000 ft above land giving you an unparalleled view of it and the skyline. The region provides excellent vistas of the neighbouring Abu Dhabi and beyond, including the World Islands, the largest artificial island in the world.
The breathtaking views from above at Palm Dropzone are not simply confined to Dubai. The Burj Khalifa, the tallest structure in the world, as well as some breathtaking shoreline vistas, are also spectacularly visible from above for those who leap from this location.
Every customer who purchases a tandem package at either of the locations will receive photographs and the standard edited video of their experience, via email, within 48 hours of completing their skydive. The tandem package also includes medical insurance.
How to reach the location?
Location: Al Seyahi street, Mina Seyahi, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
By Car: Enter the destination as ‘Skydive Dubai’ on your GPS and follow directions to reach the centre. The nearest parking is Princess Tower Parking Entrance.
By Ferry: The nearest ferry terminal is Marina Terrace Station which is a 5-minute walk to the centre.
By Bus: The nearest bus stop is Jumeirah, Royal Meridian 1, and is a 5-minute walk to the centre.
By Metro: The nearest metro station is Sobha Realty Metro Station, which is located 10 minutes from the centre.
Desert Dropzone
If you’re tired of the city (which seems impossible) you can experience this instead which has an endless view of the desert for miles and maybe a little skyline. 14,000 ft above sand this is a whole new experience of free falling and adventure.
How to reach the location?
Location: outside Dubai, on E66 (Dubai-Al Ain road), near Margham, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
By Bus: Air Force Training School 1 is the nearest bus stop and is 7.4 Km from the dropzone. You will need to take a taxi from there to reach the centre.
By Car: Enter the destination as ‘Skydive Dubai Desert Dropzone’ on your GPS and follow directions to reach the centre.
Important Information
BMI and weight are non-negotiable at tandem although there are no minimum weight requirements the maximum for women is 90kgs/198lbs and for men is 100kgs/220lbs. BMI 27.5 and 30 highest respectively.
- The staff will weigh you (with your shoes and clothes on) when you check in on the day of your skydive. You are allowed to visit the locations before you book your skydive to weigh yourself on their scales.
No drugs or alcohol must be in your system 24 hours prior to your jump
Avoid scuba diving 24 hours before your jump
This experience is for those above 18 (according to the Gregorian calendar) if you are above 70 you need to fill out the Declaration of Fitness and get it stamped by your doctor.
Check the list of medical conditions before making your booking to ensure your safety
Miscellaneous points to remember:
- Arrive on time but be prepared to spend at least 3-4 hours at the location as there are unforeseeable circumstances such as traffic, weather conditions, etc.
- 30-minute training will take place with your instructor.
- Bring your ID proof as it is mandatory, a declaration of fitness if above 70, and gift certificate if applicable.
- It is advised to wear athleisure including long sleeve t-shirts, pants that cover thighs, and lace-up closed-toe sneakers. Swimwear, sandals heels, loose scarves, jewellery, and any accessories are not permitted.
- If the weather shows no signs of improving and if the operation cancels and you cannot reschedule for the next available date, you will receive a refund.
- Book your skydive in advance to avoid a waitlist
- You can request a female instructor as well
- Eat lightly before your skydive and inform the instructor if you feel nauseous or have motion sickness
Free Wi-Fi and a café are available for those waiting. An outdoor deck is at the location for other family members if they wish to watch the skydivers land.
Various pictures and video options are available including a 3-minute experience video which is included in your package. Additionally, guests can purchase a 1-minute Instagram highlight shot, selfie view footage, etc.
Timings for Palm Dropzone
June 2023: The dropzone will be open every day from 07:00 am. The payments window will only open from 07:00 am until 11:30 am. Operations will continue until the weather permits.
July to August 2023: The dropzone will be open from Thursday to Tuesday from 05:00 am. It will be closed on Wednesday. The payments window will only be open from 05:00 am until 10:30 am. Operations will continue until the weather permits.
September 2023: The dropzone will be open every day from 07:00 am. The payments window will only open from 07:00 am until 11:30 am. Operations will continue until the weather permits.
Timings for Desert Dropzone
June 2023: The dropzone is open from Friday to Sunday, from 6:00 am, with the first take-off planned for about 7:00 am. Operations will continue until the weather permits. The DZ is closed from Monday to Thursday.
Without warning, Skydive Dubai retains the right to close its dropzones or suspend operations. Any incidental costs or losses that anybody may sustain because of anticipated or unanticipated dropzone closures, including but not limited to visas, airline tickets, hotels, taxi fares, etc., are not the responsibility of Skydive Dubai.
